On Being a Giver

I have always loved the act of giving. I remember when I was young I had the opportunity to give one of my Cabbage Patch dolls to someone who was less fortunate than me. For any of you who grew up in the ’80s, you remember how these were a prized possession. I can recall the look on my Mom’s face when I told her what I wanted to do. After all, she was the one who paid for this doll. It took her a minute to process but once she realized what this would mean to my friend and how giving this gift would also bless me, she consented to the exchange.

My Glow Box business seemed like it fit well with this integral part of me, to be able to bless women with an inspirational gift. I had no idea that shortly after launching I would begin hearing from women in need who would like to receive one. Stories have been coming in from women who are in bad situations and have little for themselves. They too are givers and tell of their selflessness and how they are looking after others, their kids, their spouse, & other family members. They have little income and would just love a little something for themselves this Christmas. Something to give them inspiration and hope that there are people who care.

I knew that this was something I couldn’t do all on my own but I could ask for the help of others to give my Glow Box as a gift to these women. I took it to social media to try to spread the word and so far I am able to help 5 women this year. It may seem small but every bit counts and it has spurred me into action and given me a new purpose in the process. I can see a need and know that there are people who can help.

If you are hurting or in need or if you would like to bless someone who is, reach out to me at hello@glowbox.ca.

In the spirit of Christmas, I would love to be able to bless more women with my Glow Box and inspire them with gifts to fuel their faith.

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38
